In this project, I used Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) to investigate subsurface structures at a 2018 landslide site in Longyearbyen, Svalbard. The survey aimed to support predictive models for natural disasters, such as landslides, by mapping sedimentary layers and potential bedrock features. Conducting the study in steep, rocky terrain presented physical and technical challenges, including environmental noise from nearby infrastructure. Despite these difficulties, the project demonstrated GPR’s effectiveness in providing valuable insights into subsurface geology in arctic conditions.
